Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Minimum Diploma in Medical Technology, Laboratory Medicine, or a relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
- Experience: At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a hospital, diagnostic center, or clinical laboratory.
- Technical Competency: Proven expertise in venipuncture, blood collection, and handling various laboratory specimens.
- Safety & Biosafety: Strong understanding of infection prevention, biosafety, and biomedical waste management.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent patient-handling, compassionate care, and clear communication skills.
- Shift Availability: Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform safe and efficient blood collection and venipuncture across diverse patient age groups.
- Verify patient identity, test requisitions, and specimen tube requirements prior to collection.
- Guide patients through the procedure and assist during adverse reactions (e.g., dizziness or fainting).
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, storage, and transport of collected specimens per laboratory SOPs.
- Maintain biosafety standards, including proper disposal of needles, sharps, and biomedical waste.
- Maintain inventory levels for collection tubes, needles, gloves, and disinfectants.
- Coordinate seamlessly with registration, reception, nursing, and lab personnel.
- Maintain complete accuracy and confidentiality in patient records and documentation.
